[edit] Co-op Experiences and Responsibilities

  • Automation Intern, Amylin Pharmaceuticals (2 quarters). Worked with automation engineers in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and non-GMP areas of a pharmaceutical plant. Went on multiple software acceptances tests and factory acceptance tests as the representative for Amylin to review code and hardware before it would be accepted into the plant. Worked daily with RSLogix 5000 Enterprise to program programmable logic controllers. Generated human machine interfaces using Factory Talk Suite. Worked in the field to make sure the input and output devices were wired, reading, and writing correctly.
  • Wireless Communication Intern, K&M Wireless (2 quarters). Worked with RF engineers to design a distributed antenna system in Boston and New York City. A distributed antenna system consists of many micro nodes with antennas positioned on utility poles. This provides better coverage to dense city areas versus a single tower.
    • New York: Verified data to check for inconsistencies. Verification of the data was needed before it was delivered to the customer. Thousands of data sets were reviewed. When an inconstancy was found it was brought to the managing engineers’ attention.
    • Boston: Acquired data via drive testing. Worked in the field with RF engineers to verify that a planed network would provide maximum cell coverage once built. Modification of the network plan was required when a dead spot was found. Re-testing was then done per the new plan.
  • EE Design Intern, Siemens Energy and Automation (3 quarters). Assisted electrical engineers in the design process of industrial sized electric motors, by modifying previous designs to meet customer specifications. Worked on the shaft design of the electric motors.

[edit] Skills/Expertise

  • Programming – Knows various different languages. (XHTML, PHP, C++, VB .net, RSLogix, VB6, VBA, AutoIt)
  • Computer aided design – Skilled with multiple (Auto CAD, Data CAD, Unigraphics) CAD softwares. Used in school and on job.

[edit] Areas of Interest

  • Automation – either commercial or residential.
  • Renewable energy – any field from solar to hydro.

[edit] Project Sought

  • Computer numerical controlled router– A machine that can cut various materials via a PC input. The machine has 3 or more axis and can cut 3 dimensional objects.
