Graded Design Diagrams

[edit] Level 0

File:Design_0.png

This diagram depicts the lowest level of CNC operation. Via a computer, a user designs the shape that he/she wants to cut out of a material. The computer then communicates with the CNC-router to tell it how to cut the material. The machine cuts the material to match the user's created design.

CAD software is utilized by the user to design the part. The CAD file is then converted into a language that is understood by the CNC-router, using the tool path encoder. This information is then communicated to the router using a communication program and electronic interface. The CNC-controller then communicates with the axis controller, the cutting tool, and the sensors to cut the designed object from the material.
